Posters for Igor Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring

I played Igor Stravinsky’s Firebird suite in orchestra in high-school (ever seeking to be as independent-minded as possible, I played viola) and fell in love with it pretty quickly. The recording I had also included Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring, which I found comparatively unpleasant. A decade or so later, I had come to appreciate it, and used it for an assignment on illustrating music. The assignment was actually for songs with lyrics, but I was granted some leeway and did two extra illustrations for good measure. Together they illustrate three different sections of the music.

These are all digital. I chose sharper chaotic textures (created by playing around with gradients and blending modes in photoshop) to parallel the dissonance I heard in the music.
